|City Wide Leaf Collection has started!!!|
Each year the City of Bluefield provides free, curbside residential leaf collection services through its Public Works Department. Collection will begin in October, with collections on Monday and Wednesday. Residents are encouraged to register their needed leaf collections on the "Fix-It Bluefield" app to share with city staff when their leaves are ready for pick up. The "Fix-It Bluefield" app can be downloaded on the App Store or Google Play Store and is found online at www.cityofbluefield.com.
“Collection crews will make every effort to service all residential streets,” said Public Works Director Candy Sayers. “If there are any questions, please call our office or communicate with us on "Fix-It Bluefield".”
Residents should note that later in season bad weather may adversely affect the department's schedule in addition to other tasks being completed. When placing leaves out for collection please remember that only leaves can be collected. Rocks, dirt, large branches, and other items should not put out for collection or mixed with leaves due to the ability for the items to damage the machines. Residents should place leaves, raked or bagged, on the edge of the property line in piles no more than two feet tall. Do not rake leaves into the street as they can congest storm water lines, ditches, pipes and culverts.
