Bluefield’s Engine 1 and Engine 3 are American LaFrance "twins." Both are 1998 model Eagles, with 1500 gpm pumps, 1000 gallons of water, 425 hp Detroit diesel and Allison Automatic transmissions. The all aluminum bodies are on short 168" wheelbases and were built by 3-D Manufacturing, now owned by ALF.

Truck 5 is a 1999 Aerial Innovations 105 ft. steel ladder on a HME low profile chassis. The body is aluminum and was built by 3-D manufacturing of Shawano, Wisconsin. The apparatus is powered by a 450 hp Detroit diesel with an Allison automatic. Features include breathing air to the tip, a pinnable 4" waterway and an intercom system. It was placed into service January of 2000 and is located at the Central Station.

A light-duty rescue unit, Truck 6 also operates from the Central Station. This 1999 Ford F-550 service company is a real workhorse and responds on the majority of all alarms. The vehicle is a rolling toolbox, carrying a variety of firefighting and rescue equipment. It is powered by a 7.3 liter Powerstroke diesel and automatic transmission. Equipment includes air cascade system, a thermal imaging camera and air monitoring equipment.

Though not on the front lines any longer, the "Old Ford" still serves for parade duty and public relations events. It is still a favorite of young and old alike. The 1931 model Ford Hose Tender was purchased new for $600. It was restored by a joint effort of the department and the firefighters union. Virtually all restoration work was done by city firefighters. It is housed at the headquarters station.
