When there is a need, our community comes together. One shinning example is our wonderful Yakkity-Yak playground located in Lotito City Park. Funded by the community, the recreational area was constructed by volunteers in only five days.

Bluefield is home to the Blue Mountain Performing Arts Series and the Bluefield Area Arts Center. Located in Bluefield's historic City Hall, the Bluefield Area Arts Center is an exquisite venue featuring a live theater (Summit Players), art gallery and restaurant.

The holiday season brings with it Bluefield's famous Holiday of Lights. Cars travel along a stretch of 600,000 lights at Tony Lotito City Park, where the event has become a popular annual event.

Also located in our forty-acre city park are six walking/biking trails, two softball diamonds, two little league baseball fields, three basketball courts, newly renovated tennis courts, an equestrian ring, a sand volleyball court and four picnic shelters perfect for family outings.

With baseball, golf and soccer all in our backyard, Bluefield has lots to offer the sports enthusiasts. And, we are just a short drive from some of the best white-water rafting and skiing in West Virginia.

Bluefield is home to the Minor League Bluefield Orioles baseball team, which has the distinction of having the longest running affiliation with a major league team. The Bluefield Orioles and the Baltimore Orioles have enjoyed a relationship for more than 50 years.

The newly renovated East River Soccer Complex consists of 5 state-of-the-art playing fields. The facility plays host to over 40 NCAA division 1 teams such as Michigan, Notre Dame, Penn State, Wake Forrest and Duke during their annual Mountain State Invitational Tournament.
